My California Dream

Do you ever have this gut feeling that you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be? If not, keep digging.

2 months of my life, although cut short, were an absolute dream. I felt at home when I was 2,500 miles from what was actually home. I felt at ease even though I was independent of my biggest supporters. I felt like I was exactly where I should be despite each moment being everchanging.

I always idolized California as if it were this superior state where life was always good, the sun was always shining, and the possibilities were nearly endless. Well let me tell you, it was all of this and more for me. Whatever it is that tugs on your heart a little harder, triggers your excitement a little more, and stands out among the rest, follow that, do that, — attract it, and live it. That’s the best advice I can give you.

Don’t let home be defined by a length of time or a childhood memory, but rather by a feeling of calmness, ease, and tranquility. That’s home. Those feelings are home. That undeniable sense of fulfillment is home. I encourage all of you to pinpoint that gut feeling that has always tugged at you. Pinpoint it then follow it, and don’t look back. I lived a life that made me happier than ever before and I can only wish for everyone in this world to live out their dream when they are presented with the chance.

My days were built around a routine, played to my strengths of hustle, yet order, motivated me to be better and do better, served me with the utmost gratitude, and simply allowed me to thrive. Needless to say I lived a life I sought after. I’m not one to let a place or a person or a job or a moment define me or limit me. But, California is absolutely my place and when I was there I felt closest to my highest self. I’m not letting a state determine my success, but if a state plays to my strengths and brings me closer to my core, I am all for it. And that’s why I want anyone who’s reading this to recognize what makes them tick a little faster and make it happen. Read those three little words again; make it happen. Yes you can do it if you really want to. Eat, breathe, live out that dream. You are the catalyst, so propel yourself forward — propel yourself toward that dream you’ve been curating in your head since age 6 or 16 or how ever old you are today in this moment. You can do it, all you have to do is make it happen. Here’s to the adventure that awaits as you take that little leap of faith, I promise you it will be the best decision you ever make.

xx,
Kay
